Arieseni Villagers, Romania 2001

After the fall of Communism, village life in the Apuseni mountains returned to traditional methods of producing wood. Women and men work together on their smallholdings, cutting and sawing ready for sale in the lowlands, and for their own use. The villagers of Apuseni raise sheep and some cattle, grow potatoes, make cheese and bake their own bread.
